Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories you would burn if you stayed in bed all day.
Your Average Daily Calorie Need takes activity level into account.
Please remember, however, that this is only an educational tool. For personal professional advice please contact your local clinic
Little or no exercise and desk job;
Lightly strenuous exercise or casual sports 1-3 days a week;
Moderately strenuous exercise or somewhat aggressive sports 3-5 days a week;
Strenuous exercise or aggressive sports 6-7 days a week;
Strenuous daily or aggressive sports and a physically active job;
There is a special formula, which calculates your Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR). It tells you how much energy (calories) your body needs to function routinely.
The average energy requirement for men is 2,500kcals and for women 1,900kcals.
However your energy requirement is also affected by a number of factors including:
your weight (larger bodies need more energy),
our activity level (the more active you are the more energy you burn)
your age (the older you are the less energy you burn).

Burn 3,500 Calories more than you consume and you will lose 1 pound of fat or total caloric deficit of 3,500 calories results in a 1 pound weight loss.
If you burn 500 calories more than you consume a day through exercise or consume 500 Calories less than your daily caloric requirement, you will lose 1 pound of weight a week i.e 500 X 7 = 3,500
